HiFi Shield 2 Audio Card for Odroid
Works with the ODROID-C2 / C1 + but not with the original ODROID-C1.
HiFi Shield Plus provides the two stereo RCA connectors for connection to external amplifiers and other audio equipment. Via TI's high-end PCM5242 DAC chip (known as Burr-Brown), it supports 16-, 24-, 32-bit audio formats with minimal THD+N (0.002%) and ideal dynamic range (114dB+), as well as as astonishing 384kHz sampling rates.
A dedicated S/PDIF interface supports a resolution of up to 192 kHz / 24 bits via an optical output (Toslink).
Using the C2 / C1 +'s I2S expansion port, we save a USB port and allow the user to select the audio playback system of their choice, such as Volumio, Debian (DietPi) for HiFi audio playback.
Functional introduction:
1. Volume control via I2C interface is an excellent feature to maintain excellent audio quality with different audio output volumes.
2. The output ports include gold-plated stereo RCA terminals
3. An ultra-low noise loss regulator is used for the power supply, which significantly reduces power supply noise and greatly increases the signal-to-noise ratio.
4. The I2S interface allows direct decoding of digital input to analog output using master clock synchronization.
5. The PCB surface is gold plated over 2 oz. copper, ensuring signal continuity and reducing signal reflection and refraction.
6. Balanced audio output soldering electrodes (differential signal) are available.
7. A dedicated S/PDIF interface, which supports up to 192 kHz / 24 bit resolution via a new optical output (Toslink), has been added.
* ODROID-C1 + supports up to 384 kHz while ODROID-C2 supports up to 192 kHz.
* This HiFi Shield 2 is partially functional on Android. The output format is fixed at 44.1Khz/ 16 bit stereo. There is also no analog volume control capability due to the limited implementation of HAL audio AOSP.
