Presentation
This book is aimed at school teachers, technology teachers, animators and parents who wish to discover the functioning of the Arduino and learn about electronics and coding, as well as users, DIY enthusiasts who are looking to refresh their knowledge or find ideas for the realization of maker projects requiring a microcontroller (weather station, robot, games....).
Throughout the book, the author uses concrete and playful examples: managing traffic lights, sending a message in Morse code, creating a device that records temperature changes, playing music with bananas, making a flashing hat, a game controller, a computer remote control or a Simon game clone... This new edition is enriched by new examples of realization, but especially by the appearance of a new chapter entirely devoted to robots (mBot, Zumo, OTTO...).
To begin with, you will get acquainted with the necessary material, and particularly with theArduino with its various models. The author devotes a chapter to the essential notions of electricity.
You will discover the main programming languages of theArduino and the use of theIDE Arduino under Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Android. You will study block programming with Scratch, mBlock and especially Vittascience (and its virtual Arduino ).
To illustrate the basic principles of coding, you will work on concrete examples and use the most common electronic components in Grove or Breadboard module format (LEDs, buttons, resistors, potentiometers, buzzer) and then more specialized components and modules such as sensors (analog or digital), addressable LEDs (Neopixel), relays, different types of motors or display modules (LED or LCD), read/write modules (RFID, SD card) or time management modules (real time clock)
In order to facilitate learning, all the basic programs are presented in two versions: block language and language Arduino.
In a dedicated chapter, the author explores different communication modes of theArduino (I2C bus, serial links, Bluetooth, radio, infrared, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and USB with the Raspberry Pi). He continues with the construction of a rudimentary clone of theArduino from a microcontroller (ATtiny85 or ATmega328P) and introduces you to the particularities ofother electronic boards such as theArduino Leonardo, the ESP8266, the Kitco and the PybStick.
The last chapter gathers the main instructions of the IDE Arduino allowing you to easily find a function in order to check its syntax.
