This book is intended for anyone wishing to make their own home automation installation at a lower cost to improve the comfort of their home (energy management, lighting ...) and make it intelligent and connected. To achieve this installation, the author relies on the nanocomputer Raspberry Pi and on the ESP8266 microcontroller.
After a general introduction on the possibilities offered by a home automation installation, the reader discovers an overview of the meters generally available in his home (water, electricity, gas...) and the way to make them communicating. A list of complementary sensors and actuators, the "organs" of the installation, is studied while making the reader aware of measurement errors.
The author then details the installation and configuration of the hardware and software necessary for the realization of the first projects that will constitute the home automation installation. He continues with the study of the capabilities offered by an ESP8266 to control the various connected devices (possibilities of measurement, interaction...).
More complex projects, drawn from the personal and professional experience of the author, are then proposed to the study in order toimprove the comfort of the occupant and the energy consumption, and to control many actuators (fan, solenoid valve, LED lamp...).
A last chapter closes the set by presenting some notions of electronics and programming more elaborate to make the devices more reliable and offering the possibility to the reader to further customize his home automation installation.
